                                      Chapter 11: Fragile Peace

Leithia had grand hopes, since she formed alliances with House Assuri,Wraith of Anubis, Luna Tic Haven and The Rags that she would be able to defeat Conobar but fate is a cruel mistress. King Conobar had long been absent and with him gone Leithia's vengeance could not be fulfilled. Vex the Huntress secretly wandered into the frozen north in hopes of finding Conobar and putting an end to his reign, but was never heard from again. With her cousin gone and the Atlantean City just walking distance from her own, Leithia became obsessed with vengeance. She could peer down from her city and see his, the betrayer's city staring right back at her, in all its glory.  Nova Atlantia was becoming quite a thriving city and trade was picking up. A massive Colosseum was built outside where wonderful fights and competitions were being held.

The popularity of Conobar's new city did nothing but stir Leithia's rage as she sat there and watched her own city dwindle. Her subjects tried to talk to her like Drake the innkeeper, to break her from her moods but she would do nothing more then stare at maps planning, meet with her allied people and she went even as far as to turn to the most notorious raiders of the lands for help, the Order of Yog. Her adviser Zuel the Carver and her closest friend Sigrun tried to talk her out of enlisting the help of murderers but she did not listen and turned on them. Unable to help Leithia see the light they decided to walk away from her because she was going down a dark path they did not wish to follow.

At the time Leithia was unaware that many of her followers had planned to leave so she continued
with her plot to destroy the Atlantean city. Every piece was set. Both House Assuri and the Order of Yog were to compete in the competitions in the Colosseum tonight. With many spectators there and more from the clans she had alliances with she had planned to overthrow the city by surprise, during the event when her most trusted allies were with her.  But then there was an announcement. Bealin the master of ceremonies announced, “King Conobar is off with the Atlantean Army, fighting the undead in the far north, we have had no word of their success or failure in months, so we are now forced to invoke his successor to the throne, until we hear of his death or return. “Bealin then turned to Tobin, Conobar's son, and the smug look on Leithia's face vanished as the announcer placed the crown upon Tobin's head. She then saw the crowd stand and cheer his name. All among the lands had heard of this mysterious kind man who came from no where to help others. Even she had traveled with him herself. Her confidence started to die inside and confusion set in. The sign to Mortom to attack would not be released. She realized then and there that the man was too liked, to be killed here and now.

With this knowledge Leithia stood by empty, rethinking her steps, wondering how she could have missed this. She watched as the great gladiators slew the beasts before her. The time passed and soon the event was over. She then returned to her city quickly hoping to relay the information about the king's whereabouts to her generals and trusted advisers but much to her surprise her cousin Vex had returned.  She looked around the city for her subjects and trusted advisers but they had all left which felt like salt being poured into an insidious wound. The discovery of abandonment sent her into a rage and she used her combined powers of Mitra and her own sorcery to destroy the city of Artimia.

The City fell in one massive crash and as the smoke settled and the buildings crumbled around her ...the leaders of her alliances recoiled back from her wrath but did not flee. She turned around and looked at them all with fire in her eyes and said, “We will have peace for now with the Atlanteans. Tobin their new king is well liked but do not by fooled by him. My wrath reaches far, much farther than my own city. Do not betray me now nor ever my dear followers or I will be swifter with my rage with you than I was with my own people.” She then turned around and glided across the ashes of her own city knowing her vengeance was soon at hand.
